SPEAKING

Introducing Myself

In this video, I had to introduce myself in less than a minute, the task was part of the online speaking course I had this semester. It was a good challenge because I needed to practice many times before the final video. After I sent the video to a forum to receive feedback from my colleagues and teachers. The comments were good and supportive, and also I had to comment on my classmates’ videos

Why am I studying at MUNI?

In this video, you are going to see my explanation and why I am studying at MUNI. It was an assignment that I needed to do for my Speaking English Online Course. The video is three minutes long and I had to practice many times. It was difficult to make because I kept making mistakes, and was getting nervous, but after five times I managed to finish it. Making videos is a task in which I need to practice a lot. In the end, I had good comments from my peers and the teacher.

Advantages and disadvantages of small classes

This video is part of the study program I have had this semester. It is an argumentative video that I need to describe the advantages and disadvantages of small classes compared to bigger ones. It took more than four hours to record and create the video and the script. Also, I needed to show some hand gestures and look at the camera occasionally. In the end, I managed to record and my tutor was happy with my video. The feedback from my colleagues was good and they had kind words. I hope you like the video.

How to create a Mentimeter presentation.

This video was part of my project for a course in which we had to describe what tools we use in our lessons to present new topics and explanations. It was not easy to make because I needed to find a platform which I could use to record my computer screen and me at the same time. Also, it took a long time to make it and I felt so frustrated after every example I made. In the end, I managed and this is the video.  I  had good feedback from my colleagues and the teacher. I hope you appreciate the video.

Sir Ken Robinson

I have chosen this presentation because it was the first class in English I have ever done in my life. It is a power-point presentation about Sir Ken Robinson and it means a lot to me.

I was reading about equality, diversity and inclusion in Education and Creativity. Sir Ken Robinson was an excellent educator and promoter of all these values because he went to a special school as a child and people trusted him and believed in him so he could go to become a writer, a teacher and an educator.

I think I did well because the feedback from my teachers and my colleagues was good.

CONVERSATION

This is an audio of a game I play at home with my daughters. The game consists of describing yourself as an animal and you must give your opinion on why you think you are that animal. Then the rest of the family will say what animal they the other is and why. I use this game in my Spanish lessons to practise conversation. I hope you like it.

This intonation exercise was quite challenging. I practised the difficult words many times and made several recordings. At first, I read the text too quickly, which made it hard to understand. However, I remembered the exercise in our lesson, which was when we read one sentence with one breath, and my performance improved. After practising and listening to my recordings, I realized that taking short pauses while reading helps the listeners understand the text better. I hope you enjoy my recording, Thank you!

Voice and speech exercise – “One sentence” reading
Remember to ham up the reading passages and use them to fully develop all of your expressive vocal
skills. In this passage, remember to keep your inflection rising until the end, as it is all one sentence. Use
volume, tone, pace, pause, and emphasis to create the meaning and mood of the piece.

For me words have colour, form, character; they have faces, parts, manners, gesticulations; they have
moods, humours, eccentricities; they have tints, tones, personalities:–
because people cannot see the colour of words, the tints of words, the secret ghostly motions of words:–
because they cannot hear the whispering of words, the rustling of the procession of letters, the dream
flutes and dream drums which are thinly and weirdly played by words:–
because they cannot perceive the pouting of words, the frowning of words and fuming of words, the
weeping, the raging and racketing and rioting of words:–
because they are insensible to the phosphorescing of words, the fragrance of words, the noisesomeness of
words, the tenderness or hardness, the dryness or juiciness of words,– the interchange of values in
the gold, the silver, the brass, the copper of words:–
is that any reason why we should not try to make them hear, to make them see, to make them feel?
